The way we work

We approach our work to ensure great service through the following steps:

  • Understand the market, client, technology and perceived constraints
  • Observe real people in real-life situations
  • Visualise new concepts, the customers who will use them and the customer experience
  • Evaluate and refine the prototypes in quick iterations
  • Implement the new concept.

Historically as an academic department we undertook detailed scientific studies but have realised that pragmatic careful observation of people in action, brainstorming and iterative prototyping can lead to faster and more appropriate services.

In addition great services come from great teams which are having fun – despite this mantra we utilise effective project management techniques and are ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management Systems) and 27001:2005 (Information Security Management Systems) certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI).

ISO 9001 concerns the adoption of a process-based approach to developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system.

  • Understanding and meeting requirements
  • Considering processes in terms of added value
  • Monitoring process performance and effectiveness
  • Continual improvement based on objective measurements
  • All members of the team support continual improvement of our policies, procedures and clinical knowledge.

ISO 27001 concerns the development and operation of an information security management system (ISMS), to help manage and protect information assets. Proportionate security controls are selected across eleven control categories.

  • Provide a common framework enabling SCHIN to develop, implement, and effectively measure information security management practices.
  • Provide a risk-based approach to help plan and implement an ISMS resulting in a high standard of organizational security.
  • Ensure the right people, processes, procedures and technologies are in place to protect information assets.
  • Protect information in terms of confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Provide a structured and proactive approach to maintaining robust information security.
