Since 1993 the Sowerby Centre for Health Informatics at Newcastle (SCHIN) has been recognised within the NHS and Internationally as a leading centre for health informatics.

SCHIN is part of the SCHIN / i4u group and provides the NHS Clinical Knowledge Summaries, the NHS Appraisal Toolkit and has led many other significant and innovative health informatics projects which are currently at the heart of the NHS information services.

Additional Supply Capability and Capacity (ASCC) Framework Agreement The Sowerby Centre for Health Informatics at Newcastle Ltd has been appointed as a Lot 2 supplier under the Additional Supply Capability & Capacity (ASCC) Framework Agreement by NHS Connecting for Health. New CKS website version 3 released We are seeing 10,000 unique visits a day and receiving very positive feedback on the usability of the enhanced site structure. In 2007/2008 the NHS Appraisal toolkit is the preferred choice for the majority of NHS GPs and PCTs Since 2002 SCHIN has been providing an electronic appraisal toolkit for NHS GP’s and PCT appraisal administrators.
